Ure-A-Sil System Gets Class 1 FM Approved
We are excited to announce our Ure-A-Sil fluid-applied roofing system has passed the Factory Mutual (FM Global) test. We pursued the FM approval to assist our approved Contractors/contractors with promoting the system, and themselves, to the industrial and institutional markets. The Ure-A-Sil system has been on the market for over ten years with great success in the commercial negotiated market. We have always understood that an FM approval would be necessary for the roofing system to gain traction in the industrial market.
The FM testing is specific to the type of substrate the system is tested over. We chose to test the Ure-A-Sil System over modified bitumen, smooth BUR, EPDM, TPO, and PVC. These are the most common substrates the system has been applied to over the last few years. Pictures included here show the system going through FM’s burn test. On all five substrates the Ure-A-Sil system earned a Class 1 rating from FM.
Products that make up the Ure-A-Sil system:
Brush Grade Urethane 522
The testing process consisted of applying the system to each 8’ roofing substrate completely on sight at FM Global’s facility in Rhode Island. We returned thirty days later to witness the burn testing that the pictures demonstrate. Each burn test lasts 10 minutes. In order to earn a Class 1 rating, the flame cannot pass the 6’ mark.
We would like to thank the people at Factory Mutual for their assistance during this process. They are true professionals, who we look forward to working with in the future!
