The 93,500-square-foot standing-seam metal roof at the Google Data Center in Clarksville, Tennessee, was restored with American WeatherStar’s Met-A-Gard+™ Roof Restoration System. Research
With approximately 93,500 square feet of standing-seam metal roofing and a 7/12 pitch, the Google Data Center required a restoration system capable of providing long-term protection across a large, steep-slope roof.
An American WeatherStar Platinum Contractor selected the Met-A-Gard+™ Roof Restoration System. Designed for commercial metal roofs, the system combines detailed treatment of fasteners, seams, and penetrations with multiple layers of protective acrylic coatings to create a durable, seamless roofing membrane.
Process
Before restoration began, the existing roof was pressure washed and treated with EcoCleaner 925 to remove dirt, dust, debris, and other surface contaminants. Loose or missing fasteners were tightened or replaced as necessary, and Red Oxide Rust Prime 912 was applied across the existing metal roof.
The American WeatherStar Platinum Contractor then addressed critical roof details with Urethane Brush-Grade 522. Fasteners and gutter straps were sealed, horizontal seams received a reinforced four-inch-wide application, and the bases of six penetrations were thoroughly detailed to provide additional waterproofing protection in these vulnerable areas.
With preparation and detail work complete, High-Tensile Acrylic 211 was applied as the base coat. Two applications of High-Build Acrylic 212 followed, completing the Met-A-Gard+™ System and creating a continuous protective membrane across the standing-seam metal roof.
Result
The completed Met-A-Gard+™ System restored the 93,500-square-foot metal roof with a seamless, durable coating system designed for long-term weather and UV protection.
The Google Data Center received a 20-year American WeatherStar Roof Coatings Labor & Material Warranty for long-term protection.
