The 19,368-square-foot EPDM roof at Smyrna Library in Smyrna, Tennessee, was restored with American WeatherStar’s Ure-A-Sil® Roof Restoration System, providing a seamless protective membrane over the existing roof.
A Smarter Solution for an Existing EPDM Roof
The Smyrna Library features approximately 19,368 square feet of low-slope EPDM roofing. With the existing membrane serving as the foundation for the restoration, the project required a coating system designed to provide strong adhesion and long-term weather protection.
The Ure-A-Sil® Roof Restoration System was selected for the project. Combining an aromatic urethane base coat with a high-solids silicone top coat, Ure-A-Sil® provides a seamless protective membrane designed for long-term waterproofing and weather resistance.
Building Protection Layer by Layer
Before restoration began, the existing EPDM roof was pressure washed and treated with EcoCleaner 925 to remove dirt, dust, debris, and other surface contaminants. Proper cleaning provided a prepared surface for adhesion of the new coating system.
Once the roof was clean and properly prepared, Aromatic Urethane 520 was applied as the base coat across the existing EPDM membrane. High-Solids Silicone 412 was then applied as the final coat, creating a seamless protective membrane with strong resistance to UV exposure and weathering.

The completed Ure-A-Sil® System restored the 19,368-square-foot EPDM roof with a seamless urethane and silicone coating system designed to provide long-term waterproofing and weather protection.
Smyrna Library received a 10-year American WeatherStar Roof Coatings Material Warranty.
