Application Process
The roof surface is pressure washed to remove all dirt, dust, and other foriegn contaminants. This step ensures maximum adhesion of the system to the roof substrate. In some cases, the use of a primer may be necessary if the SPF layer is exposed for more than 24 hours.
Product(s): Acrylic Bonding Primer 905
A high-density, plural-component, spray polyurethane foam (SPF) layer is applied at various thicknesses, depending on the substrate. This SPF foundation provides the system with a high-strength, light-weight, and durable insulation barrier. For SPF system recoats, the existing spray polyurethane foam layer must be restored to original manufacturer specifications before the subsequent coating layers can be applied.
Product(s): Contact Technical Services for product information.
An elastomeric base coating is then applied directly to the SPF layer. Optinal coating types include acrylic, silicone, or urethane roof coatings. No matter the chemistry type, the base coat is commonly tinted with gray, tan, or ivory pigments to help installers build and maintain uniform mil thickness as additional coating layers are applied.
Optional Product(s): Acrylic 211, High-Tensile Acrylic 211, Silicone 410, High-Solids Silicone 412, Aliphatic Urethane 510, Aromatic Urethane 520
Once the base coat has cured, a top coat is applied to form a seamless and flexible seal that provides the SPF system with the necessary UV protection, reflectivity, weatherability, and resistance to ponding water.
Optional Product(s): Acrylic 211, High-Tensile Acrylic 211, Silicone 410, High-Solids Silicone 412, Aliphatic Urethane 510, Aromatic Urethane 520
