Application Process

The roof surface is pressure washed to remove all dirt, dust, and other foriegn contaminants. This step ensures maximum adhesion of the system to the roof substrate. In some cases, the use of a primer may be necessary if the SPF layer is exposed for more than 24 hours.

A high-density, plural-component, spray polyurethane foam (SPF) layer is applied at various thicknesses, depending on the substrate. This SPF foundation provides the system with a high-strength, light-weight, and durable insulation barrier. For SPF system recoats, the existing spray polyurethane foam layer must be restored to original manufacturer specifications before the subsequent coating layers can be applied.

An elastomeric base coating is then applied directly to the SPF layer. Optinal coating types include acrylic, silicone, or urethane roof coatings. No matter the chemistry type, the base coat is commonly tinted with gray, tan, or ivory pigments to help installers build and maintain uniform mil thickness as additional coating layers are applied.

Once the urethane base coat has fully cured, a top coat of either Silicone 410 or High-Solids Silicone 412 is applied. This silicone top layer forms a seamless, flexible, rubber-like seal that provides the system with industry-leading UV protection, reflectivity, weatherability, and resistance to ponding water.
